A useful answer often depends on something you saved last week: a supplier quote, a research article, or notes from a call. Connecting Luckynote to an AI assistant gives you a way to look up that material during a conversation.

Start with the [ChatGPT connection guide](/chatgpt) or the [Claude connection guide](/claude). Each guide covers the current setup for that assistant. The connection uses MCP, a standard through which an assistant can use tools supplied by another service.

## Connect the account that holds your notes

Follow the guide for the assistant you use, then sign in to the intended Luckynote account when prompted. Read the access request before authorizing it. Available tools and setup steps can differ between assistants and account configurations.

Once setup is complete, test it with an ordinary note that contains no sensitive information. Give the note an unusual phrase, such as "blue notebook supplier test," and ask the assistant to find it using Luckynote. Check that the result opens the note you created.

## Ask for sources before asking for a conclusion

Start a research conversation with a retrieval request:

> Search my Luckynote saves for the packaging suppliers I researched. Show the relevant notes and links before comparing them.

This gives you a chance to catch a missing supplier or an unrelated result. You can then ask a narrower question:

> Compare the minimum order quantities in those notes. If a quantity is missing, mark it as unknown and include the source for each figure.

These are example requests. Results depend on the tools available to your assistant and the content of your saves. A connection does not guarantee that every answer will use the right evidence.

## Give the assistant a useful boundary

If your notes span several projects, name the project or folder and ask the assistant to limit its search accordingly. Describe what would count as a useful answer: a shortlist, a comparison, or the original passage containing a fact.

For an important decision, open the returned sources yourself. A summary can leave out a qualification, and the original website may have changed since you saved it.

## Check changes separately from searches

Some connected tools can change saved material. Before asking for edits, state which note should change and what the final text should say. For your first attempt, use a disposable note and check the result in Luckynote.

Connecting an external assistant also means that content retrieved by its tools may enter that assistant's conversation. Choose material you are comfortable using with that service and review its data settings.

If a test search fails, check the account and connection setup before repeatedly rewriting the question. The [ChatGPT](/chatgpt) and [Claude](/claude) guides are the best starting points for reconnecting.
